Vestas wins largest project in Victoria’s Renewable Energy Auction | First V150-4.2MW turbines in Australia

Vestas has received its first Australian order for the largest turbine in its product line, the V150-4.2MW. The turbines, ordered by long-term customer Tilt Renewables for the 336 MW Dundonnell Wind Farm, feature the latest Vestas technology, proven to optimise asset performance and lower the cost of energy. This played a crucial role in the customer securing the project under the Victoria Renewable Energy Auction Scheme.

Located 23 km north-east of Mortlake in the Western District of Victoria, Dundonnell Wind Farm will feature 80 Vestas V150-4.2 MW turbines with a 114-meter hub height tower design to maximise performance under the site’s specific wind conditions. Towers will be partially sourced from local Victorian suppliers.

The project is the largest of six successful bids under Victoria’s 928 MW Renewable Energy Auction Scheme, and the second winning project backed by Vestas’ customised solutions.

What are my responsibilities?

This role will support the Communications Manager at the Hull site with a variety of activities. An important part of this role involves planning, writing and editing compelling articles for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as employee newsletters and bulletins.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Responsible for design and development of tools and equipment for transportation, installation and maintenance of wind turbines.
  • Work with design improvements, CIM, cost outs etc.
  • Responsible for creation of technical design documentation such 3D CAD, 2D drawings, technical construction file, HSE risks assessment, DFMEA, Design verification procedure/report etc., adherence to relevant legislations.
  • Supporting process development and lead the product development from concept and requirement specification on to final verification of prototype.
  • Responsible for project execution through SAP/ERP/ECM systems.
  • Ensure cross functional collaboration with relevant interface owners throughout the value chain.
  • Deliver the technical solution within quality, time and cost targets of the project.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or allied.
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in product development and detailed design.
  • Experience in mechanical design and specification in compliant to the relevant international standards 
  • In-depth knowledge in Structural Mechanics is essential.
  • Experience in 3D-Modeling and 2D-drafting, preferably using CREO/ PDMlink and project execution through ERP/ECM systems.
  • Broad Knowledge in Engineering Basics.
  • Experience in DFMEA and Risk assessment skills.
  • Knowledge on FEA (Preferably ANSYS/pro-mechanica)
  • Knowledge of prototype development & testing.

Q3 Interim financial report 2018 | Vestas

As per the 3rd quarter Interim financial report 2018  published today at , let me share few highlights for you.

Summary: Revenue on par with last year’s third quarter while earnings and free cash flow decreased. Solid order intake and combined order backlog at high level. Guidance for 2018 is unchanged for revenue and EBIT margin before special items while it has been updated for total investments* and free cash flow*.


Key highlights

Strong order intake
Order intake of 3.3 GW; an increase of 25 percent year-over-year, leading to all-time high order backlog.

Good service performance
Organic revenue growth of 14 percent, and EBIT margin of 24 percent.

EBIT before special items of EUR 276m
EBIT margin before special items at 9.8 percent.

Progress in MHI Vestas Offshore Wind
Contribution to net profit of EUR 23m.

Free cash flow year-to-date negative
Negative free cash flow due to lower profit and build-up of net working capital to cope with higher activity.

Outlook 2018
Unchanged guidance for revenue and EBIT margin before special items while total investments and free cash flow have been adjusted.
