What are my responsibilities?

This role will support the Communications Manager at the Hull site with a variety of activities. In this role, you will support us to continually improve our internal communication channels, with a particular focus on offline communication such as corporate events and publications as well as digital collaboration.

An important part of this role involves planning, writing and editing compelling articles for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as employee newsletters and bulletins.

Transport & Handling is part of Engineering organization in Vestas Power Solutions (Vestas R&D). Vestas Power Solution is a business unit where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, maintained and tested. Vestas Power Solution operates on a global scale with more than 1,300 employees. The Transport and handling team is located at 2 different sites:  Aarhus in Denmark and Chennai in India. 

The Transport & Handling department is responsible for developing and maintaining concepts, processes and tools for Transport, Installation and Maintenance of our wind turbines. We are involved in new turbine development as well as maintenance and optimization of the existing fleet.

Transport & Handling Improvements is a part of the Transport & Handling department. The team is responsible for development of new business areas like Multi-brand tooling solutions, Inbound transport solutions and more. Also to build and execute business improvement initiatives related to transport, construction and maintenance value chain.

 

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for design and development of tools and equipment for transportation, installation and maintenance of wind turbines.
• Work with design improvements, CIM, cost outs etc.
• Responsible for creation of technical design documentation such 3D CAD, 2D drawings, technical construction file, HSE risks assessment, DFMEA, Design verification procedure/report etc., adherence to relevant legislations.
• Supporting process development and lead the product development from concept and requirement specification on to final verification of prototype.
• Responsible for project execution through SAP/ERP/ECM systems.
• Ensure cross functional collaboration with relevant interface owners throughout the value chain.
• Deliver the technical solution within quality, time and cost targets of the project.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or allied.
• 2 to 5 years of professional experience in product development and detailed design.
• Experience in mechanical design and specification in compliant to the relevant international standards 

Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge in Structural Mechanics is essential.
• Experience in 3D-Modeling and 2D-drafting, preferably using CREO/ PDMlink and project execution through ERP/ECM systems.
• Broad Knowledge in Engineering Basics.
• Experience in DFMEA and Risk assessment skills.
• Knowledge on FEA (Preferably ANSYS/pro-mechanica)
• Knowledge of prototype development & testing.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturing and preferably insight into wind turbines, e.g. welding processes and material properties.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or equivalent.
